My education began in 1987 when my dad told me about foot massage and its contribution to overall health. I began massaging his size 15 feet each night and gradually worked my way into massaging his 6’8″ body almost nightly for years. I learned to listen to bodies at a young age and developed a felt sense for the tissue underneath my hands. Growing up in a sporty family, I spent a lot of time in bleachers with a “client” one seat in front of me. I attended the Healing Arts Institute in Lubbock, Texas in 1997 and worked in a pain management clinic alongside doctors. When my daughter was born three months prematurely, I was taught infant massage as part of her daily routine. All my children have benefited from this education and they still hop on my table for sessions. I furthered my education at the Santa Fe School of Massage in 2013 to obtain my NM license after being a stay-at-home-mom for many years.
A severe back and shoulder injury in 2012 sent me on my own healing journey. John Barnes, PT. says that every therapist should be injured and realize what it’s like to be stuck in prison and have your life taken away from you. In hindsight, I can say that my injury was a great teacher. The empathy and understanding of having your life ripped away is something I have gained along the way. This journey took me deeper into the study of the human body and spirit.
My clients range in age from newborn to the elderly. They seek my support and services for everything from sports massage, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, trauma support, grief and loss, Parkinson’s, neuropathy, Hospice support, injuries, surgical recovery and overwhelm from daily life. I care deeply about how my clients relate to their bodies and find the modalities that best suit them. I also attempt to educate my clients about self-care and patterns I might notice in their tissue and ways of working with it.
My current education involves furthering my study of fascia through the John Barnes method. This is a gentle and effective way of unwinding fascial restrictions to rehydrate the tissue and provide lasting results. Please contact me with any questions regarding my work. The human body is my medium in this life.
